I got teary this week when I learned of a man in our church who stepped in as “Dad” at Donuts with Dads Day for a little boy in our church with a single mom. Another man leaves work periodically during the lunch hour to eat with this same boy in his school cafeteria. In another family, where the dad had to be away for an extended period of time, church members provided weekly meals and mowed their lawn. A woman in our church regularly takes the Down Syndrome son of yet another family for fun outings. I could go on and on about the interconnectedness of the body of Christ just in our relatively small congregation.
Because Jesus loves the church, and calls it his bride, we too are called to love the church and invest our lives there. What happens within its midst is a beautiful picture pointing us to the love of Christ. If you are local and would like to worship with our church body we are on the move THIS SUNDAY to our new location – click on our website or message me for information.
But to all of you, I invite you to follow me over to the EnCourage blog where I share snippets of the impact the church has had on my own children.
